In this session parents and carers will learn about the recent changes to affirmative consent legislation and why their young people should know this information too.

Time: 4pm AEST

Audience: Parents and carers of young people in secondary school.

Learning Intentions:

  • Identify legislation changes to affirmative consent.
  • Discuss how consent applies to online interactions.
  • Identify how to respond to disclosure and help seeking avenues.

 

The topics in this summer webinar series have been identified as areas of interest for parents and carers. These webinars may be of particular interest for families with young people transitioning to secondary school. Adults who want to be sure that their young people understand their own bodies and their rights will benefit from these sessions. Topics include reproductive anatomy, menstruation, sexual content online, sexual health, consent and avenues for support. Be ready for all the tricky conversations and make sure your young person has all the information they need to navigate the complex world of Relationships and Sexuality.
