Course Overview

This course is ideal for any organisation working with participants who have a cognitive disability. This is suitable for any employee wanting to support the sexuality of people with cognitive disability. This course is developed and delivered by SHV expert disability and community educators. 

Learning Intentions

Participants will:

• explore the emergence of sexuality and factors that may affect this
• examine values and attuites that may impact information provision
• examine legislation that supports all people to access sexual and reproductive education, information and health care, including laws and duty of care
• identify ways to engage in discussions around sexuality and relationships in age- and developmentally appropriate ways
• acquire specialist information/activities/resources to support individuals with CD and develop strategies for answering questions and responding to behaviours with confidence
• have the opportunity to ask questions of an experienced disability and community educator

Entry Requirements/Eligibility

This is suitable for any employee wanting to support the sexuality of people with cognitive disability.

Duration

This workshop can be delivered as a full day (6 hours with a lunch break) or shortened to a 3.5-hour workshop.
