Sexuality & Autism

Course Overview

This course explores the emergence of sexuality in someone with ASD and the factors that it may affect. Our courses are developed and delivered by SHV expert disability and community educators.

Learning Intentions

Participants will:

• identify supporting legislation in relation to sexuality and ASD
• explore why talking about sexuality with individuals with ASD is important
• develop strategies to support the sexuality of individuals with ASD
• examine how ASD might impact: relationships, sexual and gender diversity, pornography, public and private, consent
• explore how to answer questions and respond to behaviour
• have an opportunity to network with other professionals
• have an opportunity to ask questions of an experienced disability and community educator

Entry Requirements/Eligibility 

This course is ideal for any professional working with a participant with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Support workers, allied health, psychologists, psychiatrists, general practitioners, mental health practitioners, nurses, and teachers.

Duration

In-person sessions run for 3 hours.

$330 (GST does not apply)
