Implanon NXT education and simulation practice at SHV consists of one hour and 30 minutes of online modules followed by 20 minutes of Implanon NXT insertion and removal simulation practice on model arms under supervision (via Zoom).

Clinicians working in regional and rural Victoria are invited to apply for a scholarship to do Contraceptive Theory and Implant training, at no cost to you. Please see below:

This course is designed to deliver high quality Implanon NXT training in an efficient way.
Online modules (1.5 hours) include all key aspects of Implanon NXT theory including videos demonstrating positioning the patient, marking the insertion site, inserting and removing Implanon NXT and a demonstration of the simulation technique. The live virtual simulation session is provided 1:1 using simulation equipment posted to you. An experienced trainer who will observe your technique in real time and provide individualised feedback in the 20 minute zoom session. Simulation equipment will be provided with reply paid postage included in course costs.

This course is open to doctors, nurse practitioners, registered nurses and midwives.
Evidence of current national registration through Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency will be required as part of registration process.

Participants will receive a certificate of attendance for Implanon NXT education and simulation. This training meets the required standards for Implanon NXT training in Australia and the certificate can be used as evidence that the required training has been completed.
Upon completion of this training, clinicians who have not performed insertion and removal of Implanon NXT or similar procedures on live patients may wish to seek supervision in a clinical environment. Following training, each healthcare professional must exercise their own professional judgment to assess their competence prior to performing any insertion or removal procedure (as with all medical procedures).
