Sexual Health Victoria promote comprehensive Relationships and Sexuality Education. This is most effective when it has a whole-school learning approach and is underpinned by a strong research evidence base.
Sexual Health Victoria (SHV) understand that best practice Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) engages a whole school approach. That is to include RSE for every student at every level of their schooling. Best practice RSE also engages with all the adults and services surrounding a student. This includes parents, carers, teachers, school leadership and community groups. Central to this is the goal of supporting positive student outcomes in all their relationships, online sexual safety and their sexual and reproductive health.
A whole school approach to RSE is supported by the Victorian Department of Education Sexuality and Consent Education Policy.
The Whole School Approach Process will help you structure your organisation to help implement an effective and tactical pathway. SHV have provided a range of tools which schools can use to audit current practices and plan for the delivery of comprehensive Relationships and Sexuality Education. This includes Scope and Sequence documents developed by expert educators at SHV.
