Course overview

The introduction to sexual history taking course is a 2-hour self-paced online learning course. This course is suitable for health practitioners looking to increase their knowledge, skills and confidence in taking a sexual health history.   The course includes interactive learning modules on how to take a sexual health history as well as an adolescent health module on young people, sex and the law.  There is also a mini-audit activity on taking a sexual health history available.

• Sex and age of consent
• The affirmative consent model law
• Consent to medical treatment

• Confidentiality
• Mandatory reporting
• Mini-audit activity on taking a sexual health history

Eligibility

• This course is open to doctors, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, enrolled nurses, midwives and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health practitioners and workers.   Training may be considered for other health care professionals.. 

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) 

• 2 hours 
• Optional mini-audit 5 hours 
• Accreditation
• This activity is an RACGP CPD Accredited Activity for 1.5 hours Educational Activity, 0.5 hours Reviewing Performance and 5 hours Measuring Outcomes if the mini-audit is completed.
