Course Overview

These self-paced online modules are for parents and carers of young people with disability. Registration will grant access to an online learning module containing guidance, information and resources to help parents navigate the topic of sexuality with their young person. Written by expert disability and community educators. Registrants will have access to the materials for 6 months.

Learning Intentions

Participants will:

  • explore the emergence of sexuality and factors that may affect this
  • acquire information to support parents and carers to educate on
  • develop strategies for answering questions and responding to behaviours with confidence
  • diversity of sexuality and gender
  • protective behaviours
  • public and private
  • puberty
  • masturbation
  • relationships and consent
  • pornography

Entry Requirements/Eligibility

For parents and carers of young people with a cognitive disability (including Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Acquired Brain Injury) to help them support discussing puberty and sexuality in age and developmentally appropriate ways.

Duration

Self-paced online modules.

Cost

$120 (GST does not apply).

Accreditations/Recognition

Certificate upon completion.

We are not an NDIS registered provider. If a participant has a plan manager, we can send an invoice directly to them. Please enter the plan manager’s details in the registration form when prompted. Select the invoice option at payment. Invoices will be issued after the session.
