This self-paced online course is ideal for any professional working with a participant with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Support workers, allied health, psychologists, psychiatrists, general practitioners, mental health practitioners, nurses, teachers.
Learning Intentions
Participants will:
- explore the emergence of sexuality in someone with ASD and factors that may affect this
- identify supporting legislation in relation to sexuality and ASD
- explore why talking about sexuality with individuals with ASD is important
- develop strategies to support the sexuality of individuals with ASD
- examine how ASD might impact: relationships, sexual and gender diversity, pornography, public and private, consent
- identify how to answer questions and respond to behaviour
This course is developed by SHV expert disability and community educators.
