Sexual Health Victoria have been contracted by the Department of Education to deliver Menstrual Health and Pelvic Pain Education in schools across Victoria. This program is available to all Victorian Government schools. SHV has designed a comprehensive Menstrual Health and Pelvic Pain program which aligns with the Victorian and Australian Curriculum. Sensitive topics are covered using age-appropriate materials and language. Programs are delivered by experienced, trained SHV educators.
This program aims to increase students’ knowledge of the physiology and management of their menstrual health, along with educating them on pelvic pain. It will focus on increasing confidence in help seeking behaviours and reduce stigma around these topics.
This session will be delivered to either Year 5 or Year 6 students, or a combined cohort.
This session is aimed to increase students’:
Duration: 60 minutes
Participation: Sessions are designed to be delivered to all genders, as it is important for all students to learn about these topics and support themselves, their peers and their community to achieve the best health and education outcomes.
Our school recently participated in the Menstrual Health and Pelvic Pain workshop for our Year 5 and 6 students. Following the session, my immediate reflection was: Why was this not available when I was in school? The workshop was exceptionally informative and covered a wide range of essential topics that anyone who will experience menstruation should know and understand. This workshop is invaluable to students, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I strongly encourage schools to make use of this program—particularly given that it is provided at no cost. It is an exceptional resource and an opportunity not to be missed.

Additional support: SHV strongly encourages schools to deliver a whole school approach to Relationships and Sexuality Education. We suggest booking free professional development sessions to provide the level of support required for students experiencing menstrual health challenges at school. Professional development sessions are a pivotal tool in equipping staff with the knowledge and skills to address these issues effectively and empathetically.
How to register for a session: Please email [email protected] or fill out the enquiry form below for more information and to register. If you have any specific needs please do not hesitate to let us know so we can work towards tailoring the sessions to your needs.
