Sexual Health Victoria has been contracted by the Department of Education to deliver a comprehensive Menstrual Health and Pelvic Pain Education program in schools across Victoria. This initiative is specifically designed for teachers within Victorian Government schools. Participants in this course will gain the knowledge and confidence needed to provide age and developmentally appropriate responses to students seeking help regarding Menstrual Health and Pelvic Pain.

    Course Overview

    Enrolling in this course will empower participants to cultivate both knowledge and confidence in crafting responses that are age and developmentally appropriate when addressing student inquiries related to Menstrual Health and Pelvic Pain. This course includes visual, audio and interactive components. This course will be offered as either in person or live online workshops. Registration will give participants access to online modules which includes pre-learning materials and post-session resources.

    Outcomes include increased: 

    • knowledge and understanding of menstrual health and pelvic pain, including the impacts of poorly managed Menstrual Health and Pelvic Pain on students
    • ability to identify behaviours associated with symptoms of poor menstrual health and pelvic pain  
    • understanding of their role and responsibility in referring students to relevant health and wellbeing services and supports, including knowledge of referral pathways available
    • confidence in teaching and talking with students about menstrual health and pelvic pain

     

    Eligibility

    This course is designed as professional development for school staff (pre-service teachers/teachers/aides/welfare), school nurses and wellbeing staff working within government school settings.

    Duration: 60 minutes
