In this episode, one of our educator, Leon speaks with Professor Jennifer Power about the results from the 2024 Australian Survey of Secondary Students and Sexual Health (SSASH) survey from Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society (ARCSHS) at LaTrobe University.
SHV's Manager of Schools, Community and Disability, Anne, has also featured in ABC article, ‘One in 10 Australian teens relying on withdrawal method and half not using condoms as STIs rise', which discusses some of the findings from the survey. Anne also provided insights into the survey and the implications for young people on ABC Listen, which highlights that unwanted sexual experiences are common, condom use is in long term decline and many young people say sex education isn't meeting their needs.
