Clinical Education Presenters

Dr Lona Brown

Dr Lona Brown (she/her) is a General Practitioner and Medical Educator. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and has a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Lona uses her experience and strong focus in sexual and reproductive health to coordinate the IUD, Introduction to Sexual History Taking and Contraception courses. Her dedication to teaching health professionals includes one-on-one training and group courses, all aimed at enhancing community services.

Sarah Harwood

Sarah Harwood (she/her) is a Nurse Practitioner working across clinical services and education at Sexual Health Victoria. She holds a Graduate Certificate in Digital Learning and Teaching and brings a collaborative, learner‑centred approach to her teaching, with a strong focus on integrating theoretical knowledge into clinical practice. Sarah provides clinical supervision, supporting participants to translate learning into practice and enhance their knowledge, confidence, and clinical skills.

Larissa Hudson

Larissa Hudson (she/her) is a Senior Nurse Educator and experienced Sexual and Reproductive Health Nurse with over 16 years’ experience in the field. Larissa believes everyone deserves positive sexual health experiences as part of their overall wellbeing and she applies this perspective to her education-focused work. Larissa sees education as essential to advocacy and values working closely with learners, aiming to create courses and spaces that are practical, supportive and genuinely meaningful to them. Larissa leads the Comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health (Nursing), Contraceptive Implant Clinical Placement and Early Medical Abortion Care (Unplanned Pregnancy) courses.

Maddy McDonough

Maddy McDonough is a Nurse Educator, Sexual and Reproductive Health Nurse, and Registered Midwife with a Postgraduate Certificate in Sexual Health. She is currently undertaking a Master of Advanced Nursing Practice. Maddy leads the ‘It Starts With Me’ project, supporting Aboriginal Health Practitioners in cervical screening, with a strong focus on improving equitable access to care. Her work centers on building workforce capability and confidence in sexual and reproductive health through education and training.

Dr Suzanne Pearson

Dr Suzanne Pearson (she/her) is a General Practitioner and Senior Medical Educator who brings her enthusiasm for education and training to health professionals. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and has a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Teaching. Suzanne coordinates the Sexual and Reproductive Health Australia National Certificate for Doctors course and Implanon NXT training. Suzanne has authored articles, such as "LARC: New evidence to guide clinical practice," published in the RACGP's Australian Journal of General Practice.

Dr Kate Robertson

Dr Kate Robertson (she/her) is a General Practitioner and Medical Educator. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and has a Diploma in Child Health and a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Kate has worked in various rural and metropolitan healthcare settings. She uses this experience to help tailor learning to participant's needs, with the overall aim of helping people to receive equitable sexual and reproductive healthcare throughout Australia.

Dr Fiona Shepherd

Dr Fiona Shepherd (she/her) is a General Practitioner and Medical Educator. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and is currently pursuing further studies in Clinical Supervision. She has worked in sexual and reproductive healthcare settings in both Melbourne and Adelaide. She is passionate about breaking down stigma and ensuring that sexual and reproductive health care is patient-focused. She enjoys the opportunity and privilege of clinical teaching to help build clinicians’ knowledge, skills and confidence.

Adam Skinner

Adam Skinner (He/Him) is a Nurse Educator and an experienced integrated Sexual Health and Reproductive Health Nurse. He holds a post-graduate qualification in Sexual Health and Contraception, with professional experience in both the United Kingdom and Australia. Adam is committed to raising awareness and fostering discussions on critical issues such as Domestic Violence. He is passionate about health promotion initiatives and education, particularly regarding the sexual health of young people, LGBTQIA+ communities, and individuals in the sex industry.

Dr Sara Whitburn

Dr Sara Whitburn (she/her) is the Medical Director of SHV. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practice, has Diplomas in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Family Planning and a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Teaching. Sara specialises in sexually transmitted infections, genital health and menopause. She is ASHM certified in Advanced Gender Affirming Hormone Health. Sara is excited about enabling healthcare professionals to deliver great sexual and reproductive healthcare.
