Required Resources
- Printouts with headings below or butcher’s paper for body outlines (baby, toddler, school child, adult).
- Pictures of babies, children and adults cut out of catalogues.
Teaching Notes
The focus of this activity is on the physical capabilities of babies and toddlers and how much they learn and develop before they start school.
Procedure
- Cut out pictures of babies, toddlers and school age children from catalogues to represent competitions for each growth stage and present in a table pasted across the top of the butcher's paper. (Example: Babies /Toddlers /Foundation).
- Under each of these three (pictures) headings, ask students to give you a list of things each group do such as:
- Babies – Thumb sucking, Crawling, Running
- Toddlers – Smiling/laughing, Feeding themselves, Singing,
Cuddling, Making loud noises, Jumping, Burping, Clapping,
Dancing - Primary school children – Draw, Write name, Read, Go to school,
etc. - Adults – Work, Care for others, Drive, Start a family
